I met Gary on the 7th of may at CDG airport at Paris. He tricked me with the same story written here all over. To prove his story and to make me sure to have my money back, he wrote down all the contact informations in Norway, we made a copy of the copy of his passport, the only document he said he had left. He's a brilliant actor! I gave him 100 Euros.
But finding now this funny community seems to be worth the money. ;-)

I met Gary at Paris CDG airport on the 16th of May, same story from Garry as the one he told Silly_scot, with some slight variation.
The 16th was a Sunday and he told me that because the 17 was an holiday in Norway (which is true), he would not be able to get money transferred from his wife before Tuesday and he did not want to sleep 2 nights at the airport, so he was trying instead to take a train and then a ferry to Norway, showing me the trip on the map on a 10 Euro notes, but he needed 88 Euros for that.
I ended up giving him 100 Euros.
At the time, I wasn't really sure if he was a very good actor or if the story was true. When I thought about it later on, a few details did not add up: he told me that he left the police report (of the theft) at the British Embassy (they would most likely have taken only a copy) and he did not show me a temporary passport, just a photocopy which would not have allowed him to cross a border.

I met Gary in Brussels-South on the 20th of March after an Athens exchange program in Paris. The same story as Tom. I did not have enough money so I got him 70 euro's cash. I gave him my croissant I bought in Paris too. This guy is good in what he's doing unfortunately he's not using its capabilities in the good way.

To answer your question, Garry is at the train station Paris Est and got me 90 euros the 17th of May at 16:50. This guy is a f... good actor. I am not that surprised after all. He told me the same story (scotish, lost his papers, need some cash to go to Norway, etc). It's not a good day to beleive in human friendship.

That is me just been had.

I was in CDG airport, paris on the 14th of May 2010. I was with this girl I met off a flight back from Tokyo, we both had 4 hrs to kill before two different connecting flight and decide to get a coffee.

I was wearing a kilt so our friend spotted me as an easy target. Claimed he was from Aberdeen originally (where I am currently living). He said that pretty much instantly before I told him anything about me. After he spun a tail about having a small ruck sack stolen when asleep on the train to CDG I related to his story as had been pick pocketed in Paris in Jan 09 and got helped out by a person I hardly know with a considerable sum of money, so considered it a fitting call to do the same almost in an instant. He was convincing from the start but to be honest sounding very emotional and desperate. Probably has a detailed description on here but I could give description if required.

He asked for 87 euro to get to Germany via a bus, to get some connecting flight to Norway where he works in the Oil and Gas Industry and lives with his norwegian wife and two kids. Started telling me all about them. Then went on about his job and I interviewed him about that a bit as we "apparently" work in the same industry. Told me he was an offshore painter. Bla bla bla, I was sort of in a hurry as was off for a coffee with the girl from the plane so went to a cash point with drew 90 euros and got all his details including kids names.

Emailed norwegian friends when I got home as the email address of his wife kept bouncing back for all the variations I tried. That and the number gave fax like tones.

Guess I should be less trusting, but I would probably help someone out in a similar position again, granted maybe take the time to know them / take some pictures and more assurances first.

Details he gave were as follows: not that is matters much...

XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
XXXXXXXXX@yahoo.com (his wives email "apparently")
+47 XXXXXXXXX
XXXXXXX
XXXXXX (his two kids names "apparently", was slightly weirded out as to why he was giving me those at the time to be honest)

I met Gary at the Gare de l'Est railway station in Paris on the 27th April... This guy has no conscience all the harm he causes to others. He is a mythomaniac and should be treated.

I met Gary about 4 years ago in the Thalys train station in Brussels Midi.
Gary started just started talking to me and told his story with passion. He said he fell asleep on the train and all his luggage, money, tickets and passports were gone when he woke up.
He desperately had to get home to his wife and child in Norway. And yes he was desperate.
When I told him that I wouldn't give him any money he was really disapointed. He started crying and said he had lost faith in humanity etc... Very touching...
But still good acting Gary!
